About
Male Studio Portrait is more than just an image—it is a meeting of character and light. Within the studio, everything recedes into the background: no distractions, no noise—only the man and the space in which he reveals himself. His gaze, posture, quiet strength, or vulnerability—all become the language through which the portrait speaks.
The competition accepts studio portraits of men aged 18 and older, where the model occupies at least two-thirds of the frame and remains the undisputed focal point of the composition. The presence of other individuals is permitted, provided the viewer’s attention remains solely on the male subject. Emphasis should be placed on personality, inner state, and expressiveness—not on physicality. Submissions featuring nudity will not be considered.
We are not looking for technical perfection, but for authentic artistic vision: the ability to truly see and convey the subject through light, shadow, and the silence of the frame. Even in stark minimalism, both the man and the photographer behind the camera should be felt.
Accepted:
- Studio portraits of men aged 18 and older, with the model occupying at least two-thirds of the frame and serving as the central focus of the composition.
- The presence of other people is allowed only if the male subject remains the unequivocal focal point of the image.
- Works created using either artificial or natural light are accepted, provided the shoot took place in a studio setting.
Not accepted:
- Images featuring nudity
- Portraits of models under the age of 18
- Photographs in which the male subject occupies less than two-thirds of the frame or is not the dominant element of the composition
- Works created outside a studio environment (including outdoor, street, natural, or any non-studio locations)
