About
Sequence is a special photographic technique in which several phases of a single object’s movement are shown within one frame. Unlike simple motion blur created by long exposure, where movement is displayed only as a blurred trail, a sequence must clearly show distinct stages of motion. This approach makes it possible not just to capture a single moment, but to present the entire process over time, conveying energy, dynamics, and the development of action. A sequence can be created through multiple exposure or by combining a series of frames into one photograph. This technique is most often used in sports, extreme activities, dance, and other situations where it is important to reveal the beauty of motion. The contest “Sequence: Phases of Motion” is dedicated specifically to such works, where a single image shows not only the result, but also the motion itself over time.
